Patent Ductus Arteriosus

Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a congenital (present at birth) heart defect where there is an extra blood vessel in a baby’s heart. Sometimes a PDA will close on its own, but if your baby is born early or has other medical conditions, treatment may be needed.
